DINING BY DESIGN
DIFFA

The power of creativity in support of our communities.

DIFFA’s Dining by Design brings together interior designers, manufacturers, and partners in one of the premier fundraising events in the industry to raise funds to fight HIV/AIDS. Each year, DIFFA invites local and international designers to transform a raw space into a showcase of extravagant dining displays. BADG was honored to be a part of this event in 2019.

We wanted to connect our booth visually, poetically, and aesthetically to the reality of the data that in the south, Black women accounted for 71% of women living with diagnosed HIV. We wanted to do something meaningful to extend the love we’re cultivating to another community.

Her eyes confront and hold the gaze of her viewer. Her unapologetic gaze means that she cannot be ignored, nor does it permit an opportunity for shame through stigma.

The vignette is built around a massive print from Philadelphia-based artist Shawn Theodore, titled To Govern or to Love.
